Integrated Security Concept
When it comes to personal data of victims, first responders are obliged to protect their confidentiality. Swissphone solutions offer an integrated data security concept that includes:
End-to-end encryption of messages using the proven DiCal IDEA encryption pager data management and remote configuration with s.ONE, ensuring that every terminal always remains up to date throughout its entire life cycle. Using access-rights and roles, data management may be delegated and terminal configuration can be decentralized in a controlled manner. Sensitive data (e.g. encryption keys) remain protected from unauthorized access. The transmission of the programming data itself can also be encrypted.
Pagers are protected with a password so that the programmed addresses, configurations and stored messages cannot be read from the pager by unauthorised persons. Swissphone has implemented a number of networks featuring this integrated security concept.

Why paging?
Alerting solutions need to work when nothing else does. Based on the open POCSAG standard, paging combines a series of advantages that make it more practical, resilient and cost-efficient than any other alerting technology, including smartphone apps. This is due to two fundamental characteristics:
First, POCSAG paging is a broadcast technology; this virtually rules out the possibility of the network being congested.
Second, its low frequencies lead to great indoor penetration. Both these characteristics help paging satisfy the basic requirements of an alerting solution in the most cost-effective way.
